As we ministered to families, we saw the dire need of women, particularly young widows who lost their husbands and sole family provider. Young widows bear an immense financial and emotional burden and are often marginalized in Upper Egyptian communities. Hope4MENA felt the need to minister and help these women and so launched its women’s ministry in 2019.
Income-Generating Projects: Believing in the dignity of women and their intrinsic passion to work and provide for their families, Hope4MENA helps widows begin small income-generating projects to provide for their families. From raising livestock and poultry, to sewing, to managing a small grocery kiosk, women thrive when they feel they are able to live self-sustainable lives.
Support and Discipleship Groups: Believing that ultimate hope is in Jesus Christ alone, we seek to support the women we serve through our support and discipleship groups. These groups are held monthly, allowing the women to express themselves and study the Word of God. We can attest to the difference that these groups have made, and arecontinuing to make, in these women and their families’ lives.
Exceptional Students’ Support: A new highlight of our women’s ministry is offering support to their exceptional high school students. We discovered that some of these women’s high-school-aged children are exceptionally brilliant, yet due to poor schooling and limited funds, are unable to complete their high school education. In 2024, we were able to support 49 brilliant students by assisting in their schooling fees to help get them through high school and into university. We believe that these young men and women are our nation’s next physicians, engineers, teachers, scientists, and more!
